Rapport

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

“It is the prerogative of the ever-present, divine Mind, and of thought which is in rapport with this Mind, to know the past, the present, and the future.” Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy, page 84

“Rapport: a friendly, harmonious relationship especially : a relationship characterized by agreement, mutual understanding, or empathy that makes communication possible or easy.” Webster’s 1828

A recent class on the 23rd psalm inspired me to rethink about what David was writing. We are the sheep of God’s pasture. Sheep only follow their master’s voice. If you watch a shepherd with his sheep they are in rapport with each other. Sheep really do not think for themselves and are totally reliant on the shepherd for all they do. Even interacting with other sheep. They are not taking time to reason things out, planning their day, running the show, organizing others. Rather, they know who is caring for them. Their job is to carefully listen to, focus on, and follow the directions of their shepherd. Having this rapport they are at one with their shepherd. I am holding in my mind’s eye myself as a sheep who is completely dependent on the great Shepherd.
