Sacrament

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

Thank you for all the teaching and explanations in the Roundtable and Forum on the Lesson of SACRAMENT (1/10/16). I love Mrs. Eddy’s statement, in the chapter on Prayer, “In divine Science, where prayers are mental, all may avail themselves of God as ‘a very present help in trouble.’” (S&H,12:31-1) In the Lesson, it says, “Our Eucharist is spiritual communion with the one God.” (35:25-26)

Some years ago I attended a service with a friend, where they offered Communion; but because my friend was not a member of that church, they were denied the Sacrament, and my friend was devastated.

It is wonderful to learn that this Sacrament can’t ever be withheld from us or taken away — it is between God and each individual! We are dependent only on God, and our obligation is only to Him! Thank you for the very holy Sunday service; the nearness of God, as spoken of in hymn 108, has been staying with me.
