Sec 8. 149:3-6

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

This is such a powerful lesson!! This whole section #8 from S&H tells us in a nutshell what the stance should be when disease, sin etc comes knocking at our doors. “Mind as far outweighs drugs in the cure of disease as in the cure of sin”, and “The prescription which succeeds in one instance fails in another, and this is owing to the different mental states of the patient.” “These states are not comprehended, and they are left without explanation except in Christian Science”. These statements have given me much food for thought, working in a mostly medical oriented environment, I’m privy to the many failures of medications, and in many cases there is no certain explanation as to why this happens. We are constantly bombarded with advertisements about different kinds of drugs in the market via TV or adds. The small print of side effects are usually so small as to be impossible to read, or the list is so long as to make people give up reading it. However if taken the time to read it is almost like reading a horror story, enough to give you nightmares of “what if”. No doubt the medical professionals mean well, but their fear of disease and dire consequences if certain rules of hygiene or preventive measures are not followed, leaves the patient full of fear and with little strength to fight back the insidious error. I want to thank whomever wrote this Lesson, it is a “keeper” one that I will be returning to read and re-read. Thank you
