Seeking God

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

The story I read yesterday at our roundtable discussion sent to us from our friend Jacob in Costa Rica goes perfectly with this week’s lesson on Love!
“A man went to a barbershop to get a haircut. The barber said he did not believe in God, because of all the evil and suffering in the world. The client was lost for words, he wanted to say so much, but …it was overwhelming. When he walked out, outside was a man standing with enormous long tangled rahsta hair. He took the man inside, and said to the barber: I don´t believe in barbers, there are no barbers, barbers do not exist. The barber answered that he did exist and was a barber. The client told him that it was impossible, because of the horrible long hair of the rahsta man. How could there be barbers, when this man had such long hair, and facial hair also. Ah, said the barber, because they don´t come to me, if they come to me, I can cut and shave them. The client answered: EXACTLY!”
“And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.” (Jeremiah)
    Thank you Jacob!

Thank you so much for sharing this, and thank you to Jacob! It is so logical and makes so much sense. We need to find God with our heart — love Truth so much that we cannot be turned aside, no matter what. After all, as it says in the Bible Lesson, the Lord says, “…Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love…” (Jer. 31:3). It’s up to me to keep my part of the covenant.
Thank you for this Bible Lesson.
