The Message For All Nations

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

Matt 28:19, 20 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, evenunto the end of the world. Amen.

Jesus’ earnest instruction after His most inspiring experience (resurrection) was for the disciples to “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations…..” To get this Truth of salvation to all the world was most important to Him. He had overcome even death and the message in this triumphant experience must be shared.

From Spurgeon’s expositions: “Teach”, that is, disciple, make disciples of “all nations.”

Matthew 28:19-20. Baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you:
There is teaching again. It is as much the duty of the Christian to teach after baptism as to teach before baptism; he must be ever teaching. Hence believers are always to be learners, since Christ would have his servants always to be teachers: “Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you.” We are not to invent a gospel; we are not to change, and shift, and cut, and shape it to meet the advancement of the age; Christ’s command is plain: “Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you.”

Matthew 28:20. And, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
They have their commission, here is the seal to it; here is the source of their power; here is the society in which they are to work: “Lo, I am with you alway.” God grant that you and I, going forth to teach for Christ. may always have the sound of our Master’s feet with us, even to the end of the world! Amen.

Thank you for this beautiful post. While reading a book called The Cross and The Crown by Norman Beasley I found this on p. 88 about The Trinity: ” In one class she,( Mary Baker Eddy) called for an explanation of the Trinity. The answers did not satisfy her. She gave her own explanation, and a short time afterwards, did an unusual thing. she sent to each student a copy of her explanation:
    THE TRINITY
Father , is man’s divine Principle Love.
Son, is God’s man– His image, or spiritual idea.
Holy Ghost, is Divine Science, the Messiah or Comforter
Jesus in the flesh was the prophet or wayshower to Life,
Truth, Love, and out of the flesh Jesus was the Christ, the spiritual idea or image and Likeness of God.” MARY BAKER EDDY

Thank you for both of these wonderful posts.

I especially love the thought of hearing Jesus’ footsteps as we go forward “to teach for Christ”: “God grant that you and I, going forth to teach for Christ, may always have the sound of our Master’s feet with us, even to the end of the world!”

Also, that in our own way, we learn from our teachers, and then teach those around us. We don’t just take it in, we have to also continue to spread the Word, “to teach for Christ”. I never did this before coming to Plainfield, as I am more confident in the Truth now.
