The Only King

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

    1. II Kings 25: 30 And his allowance was a continual allowance given him of the king, a daily rate for every day, all the days of his life.

First time I read this lesson I thought that this was a verse that was out of context. Having seen the theme and then as I read the Lesson on the following days, I realized that this is really the King of kings, God who provides all. Pure, perfect, and beautiful! I am grateful to Mrs. Eddy to have come up with such a beneficial way to study the Bible on a daily basis as a collective Church because with Gods’ infinite Wisdom there is always a new treasure to be found every time one reads the same Lesson.

This reminds me of my ‘wilderness’ times between the current, watered down, Christian Science and joining Plainfield’s independent version when I would simply redo the original (in the present format) 6 months of Lessons from 1898, and get so much more out of them every time I reused them. Plainfield’s Lessons cured me of that because these are second to none and I marvel at how each week the Lesson seems better than the previous one:) Thanks to all that work on bringing these most spiritual Lessons to fruition through demonstrating the One Mind:)
