“The righteous shall flourish (and thrive)”

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

    “The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
    Those that be planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God.
    They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing” (Ps 92:12-14)

    Planted- set, fixed, established
    Flourish – Thrive; to grow luxuriantly; To be prosperous. To grow in grace
    and in good works.
    Thrive- To prosper by industry, economy and good management of property;
    Diligence and humility is the way to thrive in the riches of the
    understanding, as well as in gold. To prosper in any business; to have
    increase or success. To grow; to advance; to increase or advance in
    anything valuable. (Websters 1928)

    “The righteous (he who is holy in heart, and observant of the divine commands in practice shall flourish (thrive, prosper and increase or advance in anything valuable).”
    “Those that be planted (set, fixed, established) in the house of the Lord (conscious oneness with God) shall flourish (thrive and be prosperous in all things) in the courts of our God.”
    “They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing (thriving, prosperous and growing in grace and good works)”

    To me this is a wonderful assurance that the more I am keeping my thought focused on listening to God, following obediently His commandments and resting in His love, the more I see how He is causing me to flourish and thrive to glorify Him.
