Thy youth is renewed….

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

    Psalm 103:5
    “Thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”
    Matthew Henry writes:
    “The eagle is long-lived and, as the naturalists say, when she is nearly 100 years old, casts all her feathers (as indeed she changes them in a great measure every year at moulting time), and fresh ones come, so that she becomes young again. When God, by the graces and comforts of his Spirit, recovers his people from their decays, and fills them with new life and joy, which is to them an earnest of eternal life and joy, then they may be said to return to the days of their youth.”

    Job 33:35
    ” let their flesh be renewed like the child’s, let them be restored as in the days of their youth.”
    I find this promise gives me a renewed sense of power and vitality in handling beliefs of age and decay. Especially with the thought of a New Year, we can think of time as a natural and beautiful progression of unfolding spiritual ideas to our consciousness. Thoughts of beauty and holiness which we can feel and express to all that we touch on a daily basis. Living in the moment, always expressing God in the best way He shows us, gives us so much good to do that we can forget fear of the future. What a joyful progression is ours! So filled with promise, exceptionalism, excitement, joy, happiness, harmony…all the good that God is! I can see that the more we learn and open our thought to God only, we are restored to our real selves which are timeless, changeless expressions of Love. I am so grateful for this Church!!

    Thanks for the inspirational post for the New Year. Eagles are wonderful symbols of Spirit. I committed the first 5 verses of Psalm 103 to memory this year, claiming the benefits guaranteed by the Lord! So thankful that it has become a response to any murmuring that begins to stir in so-called mortal mind. It is the answer to any complaint. I pause and slowing take in each benefit. God has already covered everything. A done deal. Who could ask for more! Rejoice.

    “Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name.
    Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:
    Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;
    Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies;
    Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”
