Trials

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

“Every trial of our faith in God makes us stronger.” S&H 410:14

When I first came to Christian Science I didn’t want trials. I didn’t want the experience or suffering that puts strength and patience of faith to the test. I wanted everything to be “nice.” That was the human desire, to be comfortable in matter. I made my own problems because of false beliefs.

I soon found that the “trials” were a stepping stone that made me learn how to apply Christian Science and how to live a Christly life and work for God. It was to advance me to a higher understanding. During the trials I prayed and worked harder than when things were “nice.” The desire for the “nice” left. Instead advancing in Christian Science became the desire.

Thank God for Christian Science that destroys the false beliefs we have learned. We can be assured that “Truth is always the victor.” S&H

I thank God that Christian Science teaches us that trials are blessings. “Trials are proofs of God’s care.” S&H How great to grow stronger and closer to God. Anything worth having is worth working for, and there’s nothing greater than working for God!

Thanks Sharon. I now realize that trials are different from everyday living of Christian Science with prayer, watching and working with our already proven understanding. Trials require us to take a step higher, closer to God and sometimes to give up some cherished false belief.
