What do you see?

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

In Science and Health it says “Mortal mind sees what it believes as certainly as it believes what it sees.” This means to me that what I see is more a function of what is within me than what is out there. This also points to the necessity of looking at things as God sees them, which is an important discipline to take on. This would eliminate the quick judgment and faulty influence of human thinking, regardless of how reasonable it may seem, but is the cause of so many problems. What mortal mind sees is largely what is popular at the moment, but only what God sees will stand the test of time and experience and will prove to be right.

Without question the most important battle to win is within my own consciousness. All the years prior to coming to Plainfield I knew the goal was to be at-one with God but didn’t put it into practice very quickly so thank you very much for this reminder!

In the story of Daniel one would think that King Nebuchadnezzar would have immediately converted to Daniel’s true God. Then I realized I did that in theory many years ago upon learning what Christian Science stands for but didn’t know how to apply it. No regrets and never was my time wasted in my ‘feeble flutterings’ but so grateful to now have the resources in this church to show how to retrain my thinking to be based in God. Just realizing what this church has to offer was a huge step:)!

Every comment, how ever simple it may seem when based in Science helps tremendously:)
