The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

    Hi Karen,

FYI, I emailed the Mary Baker Eddy Library about this quote and received the following reply.

    Dear Ms. Larden:

Thank you for your inquiry regarding a statement that Mary Baker Eddy purportedly had in the front of her Bible which begins “It is the book of laws to show the right and wrong.”

This statement does not appear in any of Eddy’s Bibles in our collection. However, it can be found in her notes under the title “Bible.” It is available in our collection under the accession number A10837. Our research indicates that it appears to be a copy of an anonymous statement that circulated during Eddy’s lifetime.

If you are interested in purchasing copies of this document, please call us at 617-450-7218. Our Archives and Special Collections space is open Monday through Thursday, from Noon to 4 p.m. Eastern. The cost for this document is $5.50 for a physical copy or $5.25 for an electronic copy.

Thank you for your question and please let us know if we can help with anything else.

    Sincerely,

    Dorothy Rivera
