…enter thou into the joy of thy lord

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

    4. Matthew 25
23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

It was very clear on reading this that those that see God as an abundant God – not trying to trick them, or see them fail – go out and use their talents to bless others and are rewarded for it. And, just as the first two here were told, they will “enter thou into the joy of thy lord.”

The ones who see God as unreasonable and oppressive – as a force to fear – blessed no one with their talent, and gained the consequence of that low thought. Certainly, this is not God’s doing, but mortal mind bringing it out.

As one who went quite a while with a wrong idea of God, and held my talents to myself, I am glad that God is merciful and guided me back to Him, patiently waiting until I realized how important right thinking and its rewards are (and how unwanted wrong thinking is!).

I am grateful that if we find ourselves on the wrong side of this, we don’t need to stay there! I am also grateful that Christ Jesus, Mary Baker Eddy, and those at this church did not bury their talents! Thank you!

It is also fascinating that this parable ends with the following verse, which is nearly identical to what Christ Jesus told his disciples when they asked why he spoke in parables, in Matthew 13: 12. (Which I wrote about on the August 13th, 2017 Forum.)

    Matthew 25: 29
29 For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.

    Matthew 13: 12
12 For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.

This seems a promise from God and a law to follow, if I truly want the joy that comes from God.

It is such a blessing how each lesson builds upon the previous. Thank you!

Matthew 25:29 For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.

To me this also means that my gratitude should be in action; meaning I must have faith enough in the simple Truths (which we have all been given) to use them, or I cannot really say I am grateful for them. If I appreciate something I use it, trust it, take care of it and Love it enough to make sure I do not lose it.

So when any claim comes up do I at least start with the simple Truths, the fact that I am the expression of Life, Truth and Love and any others that comes to mind? Or do I affirm mortal mind’s words saying, oh, I don’t know enough,I am not worthy, I doubt and be tricked into not using what I know. If I consistently apply even the simple spiritual facts, I am saying “I have” and more will be revealed to me because I am receptive to God’s word. If I “bury” what I have come to know, I am saying “I have not,” and will lose (it will be taken away) what ever I had!
