The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

I highly recommend the lecture by Peter V. Ross titled The Challenge to Defeatism which can be found on our YouTube channel and our church website (https://books.plainfieldcs.com/peter-v-ross/lectures-on-christian-science/#article_0016).

To me, this lecture contains much about my and man’s identify as a child of God.

Excerpts from this lecture that stood out to me are:

Man’s Biography

Socrates was perfectly right when he used to advise, “Know thyself,” since if a man gets really to understand himself he will lose his supposed impediments and miseries. Every individual is much of a mystery to himself. He would like to be conversant with his biography, so to speak. The best biography of man ever published, if we except the Gospel of John, may be found in that celebrated book Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, written by Mary Baker Eddy some sixty or seventy years ago. Page after page refers to spiritual, perfect, immortal man. This man is your true selfhood. Therefore when you read this volume you read about yourself.

“Search the Scriptures,” is the divine injunction, “for in them ye think ye have eternal Life.” To which may be added: “Read Science and Health and you will get acquainted with yourself, to learn that all the ingredients of Life and of Mind and of Soul converge to make you, to make you a man upright and Godlike.”

I have never read Science and Health from the standpoint that I am reading the Truth about myself! I am very eager to again read our textbook!!.

Love is the liberator.
