The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

Thank you for your thoughtful post, Jeremy!

I have finally found “freedom from timidity”, timidity that was really the status quo that I found for decades in most of my interaction with the mainstream C.S. churches. I was timid to talk about C.S. to those outside the movement, and many others were timid to talk about C.S. even inside the movement. Although I encountered many really nice people, it was rare when someone would be “filled with the Spirit” and MOVE me! Fast forward when I came to Plainfield, I could FEEL the Spirit in the church and everything changed. Right then and there I knew this place was different. Only since coming here have I had the confidence to hand out Science and Health to people–it was the Spirit that moved me each time! Sometimes it’s quite natural; other times it takes a bit of boldness to do it, but the rewards have been shown to be wonderful and unexpected. Each person who receives Science and Health has been touched in some way. Maybe not all have read it, but that’s OK, because the seed has been planted.

Today I have no problem speaking boldly about God and the Laws of the Universe to people–every day presents its opportunities to bring God into a conversation, even if it’s as simple as declaring, “with God all things are possible”(Matt. 19:26, Mark 10:27), or “Honesty is spiritual power” (S&H p. 453)–and often I can link these Laws to Christian Science. Boy do people perk up when they hear the Truth! Speaking up is something I can now do without fear, and I’m so grateful to Plainfield for showing me the way.
