“Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.”

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

    GOLDEN TEXT: MATTHEW 5 : 8
“Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.”

This verse has taken on more meaning to me this week, as I thought, ‘If the pure see God, then what is it the impure in heart see?’ The word ‘self’ came. Human development feels like this push to gain knowledge and develop our personality and sense of self, only to find that personal sense is why we feel distant from God.

In Mary Baker Eddy, Her Spiritual Precepts, Gilbert Carpenter wrote:
It is in proportion as we learn to strip ourselves, and return to the purified thought of a child, freed from human knowledge and experience, from the world’s ideas, ideals and modes of thinking, that we become a channel for God.

This goes right along with what Mrs. Eddy wrote:
    10. 324 : 4-6
The purification of sense and self is a proof of progress. “Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.”

I am so grateful for Christian Science and practitioner support for showing me how to cut through that clutter and get back to God. Thank you!
