Disease Cannot Destroy Life

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

SH 426 When it is learned that disease cannot destroy life, and that mortals are not saved from sin or sickness by death, this understanding will quicken into newness of life.

To gain more understanding of this Truth is real progress; it begins to lessen some of the fear underlying sickness! That which renders us helpless and keeps us in bondage.
As I become more convinced that my life is “entirely separate from the belief and dream of material living” SH p14, the more I can appreciate this Truth that disease is powerless to have any effect on my real life….this gives a freeing joy, a sense of the promised freedom the Truth of life in God reveals.

Thank you Florence! That is such a beautiful thought. It goes along completely with the wisdom of starting each day knowing, “God is Life. God is my Life. God is the only pure and perfect Life.” The Lesson also states, “…God alone is man’s life. It is evil that dies; good dies not.” When we are tempted to look to matter, to the belief that somehow life is in matter, well, that’s when we run into trouble! Remember then,- God is your life and the only life there is. What wonderful freedom you will find in uplifting your thought to God and finding all true being in Him!

Thank you for this post. Declaring that “God is Life. God is my Life…” and keeping thought focused on God and His infinite goodness, is the best preventative medicine!

“What wonderful freedom you will find in uplifting your thought to God and finding all true being in Him!” THIS is true freedom–“finding all true being in Him.” Beautiful thought, thank you.
