The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

We cannot build safely on false foundations. S&H p. 201:7

I was thinking on this. There are many false foundations: Job, money, personality, human looks. These are not secure. One minute you have them and the next minute you can lose them. This is building your house upon the sand. “The rains descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.” Matthew 7:27

The only true and safe foundation is building on Truth, God. He is our Rock, firm, never swaying or swerving. Always steadfast. The Bible says, “Whosoever heareth these says of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock. And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house, and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.” Matthew 7:24-25

Let’s build our house upon the rock and stand firm in the Truth we are learning in the Plainfield Church.

Thank you for your post Sharon!. I found it helpful to me.

In studying the Lesson this morning, I came upon these verses. I believe they co-inside with your important post. (Colossians 3), “Cast your Mind on things above; not on things of the earth.” And in (Romans 8), “For to be carnally minded is death; but to be Spiritually minded is life and peace.” Also, in Proverbs I read the following, “Through Wisdom is a house builded: And by understanding it is established. (But) by Knowledge shall all the chamber’s be filled with life and peace.”

We need to “walk with God”, as Jesus and the prophet’s of the Bible did. We need to, “Pray without ceasing.” It is only in this way can we be assured of our safety. We are all striving here in Plainfield Christian Science to “build our houses upon a rock”… to cast away the false pictures parading before us, and keep our minds stayed on the One God.
