Human opinion does not inherit the kingdom of God

The Forum is dedicated to each week's lesson, and may be used to post questions, comments, and constructive replies that strive to uncover the inspired meaning of the text. The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible; make two short postings of the long posts or send the lengthy ones for publication in our Magazine or Newsletter. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

I CORINTHIANS 15 : 50 “Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.”

“The greatest danger today in all the talk about faith-based social organizations is that Christians will begin to think about their faith the way the world does. .. The world does not think of Christianity as divine revelation but as human opinion. …if you let the secular mind determine your starting point and then define the categories for explaining Christianity, then you will promote the erroneous notion that the gospel of Jesus Christ (is) not an authoritative revelation from God that is true and necessary, but instead, an activity of man that is useful (or not).” by John Piper

Mrs. Eddy writes, “The human mind is opposed to God and must be put off, as St. Paul declares.” (Science and Health page 151) I am grateful for all I have begun to learn about the dangers of trying to blend secular world (the human mind) with the revelations of Christ Jesus and Mrs. Eddy that are from God. It can’t be done. I see how I slowly made compromises because I allowed the world define church, religion, Christianity, Christian Science, Christ, Mrs. Eddy, etc. Christianity became a possible “useful” teaching to pick from “many” choices of how to live a so called “comfortable” life. Being here is lifting this veil to expose this illusion.

I ask, what am I allowing to shape my thinking, determining my starting point, and who or what authority am I turning to for Truth?

“KINGDOM OF HEAVEN. The reign of harmony in divine Science; the realm of unerring, eternal, and omnipotent Mind; the atmosphere of Spirit, where Soul is supreme.” by Mrs. Eddy, Science and Health page 590
