Micaiah's example

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

When the king of Israel was approached about inquiring of the Lord, the first thing he did was to gather around him 400 men whom he knew would agree with him without giving any consideration to whether it was right. What kind of security blanket was this to have a large number of people pleasers, who have forsaken their conscience and had a higher regard for their position than for truth. Micaiah, on the other hand, stood alone with God, even though he was persecuted for it, and subsequent events proved that he was the one who was right, proving that one with God is a majority. For me the lesson is to question the motive when I feel the desire to be in agreement with others, because it may feel more comfortable at the moment. The real question is whether something is right with God; His judgments are everlasting and can’t be avoided.
