Mrs. Evans

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

Recently, in a Calendar Statement, we were drawn to the article “The Beatitudes” by Doris White Evans. A few years ago when I first learned of Plainfield CS Church, Independent, I would go onto the website and read the many articles and past Bible Lessons, and I would hear about Mrs. Evans as mentioned at the Roundtables or in a Bible Study. I must admit I grew quite curious to know more about Mrs. Evans, and was able to then find her “Sermons and Articles” on the website, and to purchase a copy of her book which I obtained from the Plainfield Store. The ideas presented in the book are very inspiring, encouraging and practical. I am grateful to learn about Mrs. Evans and her deep love and devotion to the Cause of Christian Science. I thank you so much for making available all the precious and timely articles that are on the website.

Thank you JC. And not to be forgotten are Mrs. Eddy’s thoughts on the Sermon on the Mount, where she states that “the Sermon on the Mount, read each Sunday without comment and obeyed throughout the week, would be enough for Christian practice.”
