Nature and God

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

S&H citation 12, pg. 118, 26-32: “The definitions of material law, as given by natural science, represent a kingdom necessarily divided against itself, because these definitions portray law as physical, not spiritual. Therefore they contradict the divine decrees and violate the law of Love, in which nature and God are one and the natural order of heaven comes down to earth.”

I hadn’t seen this before, that the material laws as defined by natural science violate the law of Love! But it makes sense, because they don’t provide answers that dissolve the fears and concerns in the human mind revolving around natural science, but multiply them.

On pg. 119 Mrs. Eddy goes on to say: “In one sense God is identical with nature, but this nature is spiritual and is not expressed in matter.” (italics added)

In the same way that I am to see others as spiritual, it is important to carry that over to all the beautiful creatures and living beings that I see. Seeing my dog and cats (and house and garden plants, etc.) as spiritual ideas has lifted my thought about them, and I realize that it is God that is continually caring for them. When I recognize that “…nature and God are one and the natural order of heaven comes down to earth”, it becomes more clear that we are in heaven right now, with the animals and all living beings beautiful spiritual expressions of God’s love.
