reflecting "the beatific presence"

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

“Man is the idea of Spirit; he reflects the beatific presence, illuming the universe with light.”

I don’t think I ever zeroed in on this passage before but was struck by the image of this beautiful reflection of light by all of God’s ideas! Beatific is defined as “having the power to impart or complete blissful enjoyment; blissful” and I thought of how so many work hard to “find their bliss”, which is great–go for it!–but in actuality, it is ours by spiritual reflection! I found that to be so inspiring, to remind us that we are here to express joy and be beacons of light–both ours by reflection.
