Story of Jesus raising Lazarus only in John

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

It interested me to learn from the William Henry Internet site that the story of Jesus raising Lazarus is only in one of the gospels, that of John, and why that might be. Part of the explanation given in William Henry’s first paragraph about John chapter 11 is, “Some suggest that, when the other evangelists wrote, Lazarus was alive, and it would not well agree either with his safety or with his humility to have it recorded till now, when it is supposed he was dead. . . . In this journey [on the way to raise Lazarus] some circumstances happened which the other evangelists record, as the healing of the blind man at Jericho, and the conversion of Zaccheus. . . .”
