To be absent from the body

The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

    II Corinthians 5:7-8
7 ” (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)”
8 “We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.”

(Partial quote from Daily Watching point- #294 “500 Watching Points” by Gilbert Carpenter)
“When an image of discord or sickness flashes across the screen of your thinking, and you think of it as disease in your body, you may know that your thought is off its scientific basis. If you immediately call it nothing because it traces back to nothing, you may know that your thought is right, and if your perception is spiritual, the image will disappear.”

I am learning here that everything real is spiritual. Spirit, God is our life and guides us rightly in everything. So, if we are to obey God and live rightly, we have to be tuned into his instruction through spiritual sense, which is God’s way of communicating with us. Our real body is the full expression of God’s ideas and not just for ourselves, but to bless all. To be just aware of our individual being without concern for others is a selfish way to be, and infinite God knows no such Life for any of His ideas. Love harmonizes all ideas with each other unceasingly. How could such unlimited beauty and love be perpetual if God’s individual ideas were not constantly blessing one another? Our material senses are decoys and mislead us into false beliefs and fears that seem real. It is all a lie, illusion. So, to fulfill our real purpose we have to listen to God alone. He loves us, protects us. We reflect Him. Everyday, we can feel more confident to deny the material senses and turn to God for everything. I am very grateful to be learning this through the wonderful teachings from our Practitioners and all the contributions from the members here at the Plainfield Christian Science Church, Independent.
