The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.

We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!

I find amusing the world obsession with sex, physical beauty etc,. As I’m gotten older I have come to enjoy my solitude and oneness with God, what better companion, partner than God? It is sad the youth today are been bombarded in the media about “choices” they can make whether to call themselves male or female, undergoing medical procedures or hormonal therapy to change what God made. It is true some individuals are born with different inclinations in their nature, they should not be condemned but a young boy or girl, pray tell, how can they know what they want to be? Infusing the body with testosterone or estrogen hormones to make it either more feminine or masculine is playing “Russian roulette” with life. God must be shaking His head in heaven wondering if perhaps it was a bad idea to eliminate the dinosaurs and rather keep the human race on earth.

Thank you Jeremy, for such insightful post! In the past I had fallen prey to the “latest” diet which falsely promises health, longer life etc, I was just not long ago visiting family in California, my sister’s latest fad of so called “Plant Based” foods, which she attempted to interest me with, I found to be ridiculously expensive and awfully tasting, no thank you! I prefer to eat thankfully and in moderation of God bountifully provides for all humanity!

Thank you for sharing the information, I had a few conversations with him a few years ago, he was a wonderful Christian Scientist, his work and support of the African Christian Scientists was praiseworthy.

Thank you for above comment, yes, I also had my share of experiencing the fear when going to a doctor. The whole experience from the moment you step in the office, and the rituals (blood pressure taking, temperature, listening to your heart and lung sounds, etc), are all done to inspire fear that somehow these medical professionals will have the last word on your health, how long you will live etc. even the mildest ailments will be shrouded with dire predictions if you don’t follow their medical regimen. As a former medical nurse I was a first hand witness in hospital, seeing their “guessing” as to what was wrong and quickly handing out costly pills and predictions of what can go wrong if not taken. However, each person must come to their own God inspired decision as to which route to take. I was blessed to find Christian Science which shows us a better way!, and yes, medicine has become a big money making scheme, once you go down that “rabbit hole” only God can pull you out of it. Thank you for a wonderful roundtable yesterday!

With all due respect, but since when is Christian Science advocating a vegetarian diet? It is all well and good when you live in a country like USA, blessed with resources, a less fortunate person living in a poorer country may have no such choice as we in USA have, they may consider a blessing if they can get a chicken, meat or fish to sustain themselves and their families, above comment will sound presumptuous, condescending and arrogant. What you eat or not should be left up to the individual and their circumstances, not to some “holier than thou”, or to a “look at me, look at me I’m a vegetarian!!”. The comment you refer to on the Blue Book attributed to MBE, is just a statement and can be taken as such with no indication that she advocated a vegetarian diet. The round tables should be a place to discuss things of God and Christian Science, not what you prefer to eat or not, to discuss spiritual things, not whether “should I be vegetarian, should I follow the paleo diet, should I eat meat or fish?”. Jesus stated “is not what goes into man’s mouth that makes him unclean”.

I love the prayer for the World that is included in the services each Sunday, please keep doing it. As Jeremy stated the world is becoming our congregation. Nit picking should not be part of this Church independent. I can’t believe this is even up for discussion. Please keep the world prayer it is much needed at this time. thank you

I don’t agree that corporeal punishment is ever necessary. Mrs Eddy was right in her above mentioned statement. As a former recipient of the so called corporeal punishment when a child,I can assure you it only instills fear, distrust, anger, and hate. I’m very disappointed that his was even discussed as “sometimes necessary”. IT IS NEVER RIGHT!! to hit a child.

Thank you for above comment Barbara, I also always wondered about Judas and his actions after he realized what he had done. There is more to it than just the plain greed for money. Did he suddenly realized he had been duped by mortal mind wiles? What stopped him from asking God’s forgiveness? What drove him to suicide? I also feel compassion not only for Judas but also for the many young people that choose suicide as a way out or a way to silence their inner demons.

Thank you for these teachings. After reading the book by Ann Beals “The Law of Love” I’m astounded at the erroneous concepts I had of how I was following the command to Love. On page 115 of S&H, Mrs Eddy describes the three degrees of mortal mind, and in “the Law of Love”, Ann Beals describes each one in detail, again I was astounded by my blindness and how when we really dig deep we find we are not really that good as we thought we were, and we still have a lot to work on. In this Lesson we are asked to take a good hard look at ours so called “goodness”. Are we really good? because we don’t purposely harm another? or kill, or rob? There are so many layers, that I’m sure it will take a lifetime or more to discover and resolve. Thank you again for the teachings in this Church

Thank you for this comment. I just underlined it in the Lesson this morning and was wondering what Mrs Eddy was trying to convey. So many times I hear from Christian Scientists those words “nothing ails you” but they are without meaning or love behind it. Lately, I have strived to apply this in my interactions with family, coworkers and strangers on the street. I’m still far from successful, and regrettably wonder if I’m doing any good when passing a stranger, or a homeless person. I mentally declare “perfect God, perfect man”, but always question myself, have you been truly effective? Or are these just words? Do I love enough? I can only trust God that sees my true self and my true intentions. Thank you again. I always feel surprised when God answers.

I want to express my gratitude for the new edition of the magazine Love is the Liberator, it is very inspiring the cover, I’m so glad we are using the original covers as Mrs. Eddy intended. Thank you for all the uplifting articles and testimonies from the members.

Thank you Florence for the comment above, it is true that many times what we speak is not what we truly feel in our hearts. We speak with a “forked tongue” and many times this leaves us feeling unsettled, sad, guilty etc., as you correctly point out above, “no one is fooling God” and He will certainly let us know one way or another. Thank you for your reminder.

Thank you Bruce for the above commentary. This is very helpful when dealing with the fears and concerns relating to our children or family members. This is very useful to apply and to know as we go about our daily business. Thank you. I have the book Collectanea and will definitely earmark the paragraph above. Thanks.
