The Bulletin Board is for gratitude for Christian Science and the Church, as well as timely excerpts from the Bible, the works of Mrs. Eddy, and the early workers that help and encourage. We are very grateful for all posts that conform to these guidelines, but will edit or remove anything that the Practitioners feel is not in complete accord with pure Christian Science or in any way disrespectful of it.
We also ask that you keep your postings as concise as possible. If you quote the Bible, please use The King James Version, as this is what Mrs. Eddy used. Thank you!
Thanks Susanne. God is always directing our paths and when we obey His voice, we don’t stumble or make mistakes. Any inharmonious steps are our fault, a trick of mortal mind causing us to repeat our steps. Being in complete obedience to God corrects all situations.
Thank you for your post.
I also like the part where Mrs. Eddy says: “When the Science of being is universally understood, every man will be his own physician, and Truth will be the universal panacea. Science and Health page 144
Wednesday night when a heavy rain started, I opened Watches Prayers Arguments to the following article. After working with this article for a few minutes, the rain slowed to a gentle rain. This is helpful for handling hurricanes too.
Thank God for Mrs. Eddy and her writings.
MOTHER’S LESSON ON RAIN
The gentle clouds and the gentle rain fall upon the just and the unjust; no electricity, no thunder and lightning, no cyclone, no tornado, no destruction, for the dear Father’s face looks out from the clouds in love and in harmony. No malice, and no hatred — for there is nothing to interfere with His government in Love. There shall be the gentle and beautiful rain upon the earth to water the whole face of the earth.
Do not take up, there is no thunder and lightning; know that God governs the elements, and there is nothing destructive or harmful. God sends the rain that watereth the earth. Human will cannot come in and govern. You would not argue diphtheria, if the case was consumption: neither do you argue thunder and lightning, when it is sin (malice). If thunder and lightning come, then know, forces are of God and are not destructive. If too much rain, realize harmony. If drought—no drought. S&H 102:9 (268th edition).

What a wonderful example. Thank you
The Bible states, “With God all things are possible.” Mark
In Isaiah 43:19 it says, “I will make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert”, in Joshua 10:12 it says, “. . the sun stood still, and the moon stayed” and in Jeremiah 32:17 it says, “Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and there is nothing too hard for thee.”
No matter what the situation, God is right there. If it isn’t from God, it isn’t real, it has no staying power when the Truth is applied and will be “ground to a powder” by the Word of God.
God supplies every need, no matter what it is that is needed. Never doubt.
Mrs. Eddy says, “There is no failure where God is, and He is right with you, every moment.” Lessons of the 7th Day
I have been working on a situation that did not seem to be going anywhere. It felt like I had hit bottom and it would never get resolved. We spoke at the Roundtable on Sunday August 27, 2017 that we need to learn patience. This was something I needed to learn.
Speaking with a Plainfield practitioner, she gave me this statement from this week’s Golden Text, “It is God that girded me with strength” and I was told to put the situation in God’s hands.
Every time I thought about this situation I knew God was my strength, God was in control and governing. Getting myself out of the way, answers came and now the problem is yielding with practitioner help. Progress is being made and the situation is being resolved with God’s will being done, not my will.
I am very grateful for the Lessons, Roundtable discussions and practitioner help.
This statement has helped me many times. I say to myself, “Fear not and peace, be still.” I need to stand still and quiet my thought. I can’t try to outline or figure out how something should be accomplished. It is putting my total trust in God.
Thank God and Mary Baker Eddy for this Science.
Thank you Bruce and Gary.
I also noticed that the woman admits to her mistake. She said, “The serpent beguiled me, and I did eat.” She did not justify or make excuses. Mrs. Eddy says that self-justification is the adamant of error. The admission of error opened the heart of woman and this type of thought was able to be used by God.
Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity! Psalm 133:1
This is what we have learned to do in this church, dwell together in unity. To be of one Mind, obedient to God. It is good and pleasant to work together. We get a lot accomplished with no gossip, no backbiting, or criticism. If we see a brother in danger of becoming mesmerized, we speak up. If someone needs help with a task, we offer to help. This is Christly love which is tough and tender. It is safety. It is the best place to be, dwelling in the love of God, dwelling together in unity.
Thank you for your post. You put it so beautifully.
All we need is God. He is the answer to every need and prayer.
This statement made me realize that I can’t react to situations. I need to hear what God is telling me. Don’t just blurt out words and don’t get angry. I must stay poised and express God, Love, at all times, whether it be in a strong rebuke or in a gentle word. Taking these steps I will be “obedient to the Mind that makes them.” S&H
Thank God for Christian Science.
I never liked being corrected either. I wanted everything to be “nice.” But without the corrections I never would have changed my ways and would have continued to suffer because of it.
In the Moffat Translation of the Bible, in Hebrews 12:11 it says, “Discipline always seems for the time to be a thing of pain, not of joy; but those who are trained by it reap the fruit of it afterwards in the peace of an upright life.”
Thank God for everyone who loves enough to give a correction and get us on the path of right thinking. It requires love for God and man and the teaching in the Plainfield Church shows us how to give corrections with love. I am very grateful.
I was faced with a challenge this week, and this post helped me to turn to God and not accept the verdict. I didn’t fall down into a little puddle of despair, I did not condemn myself or throw in the towel. I held to God and felt peaceful I had done the right thing and God would take care of the rest. And He did. The situation was reversed.
I am very grateful for this post.
If I am entertaining a material compliant, my favorite statement to use from Watches Prayers Arguments by Mary Baker Eddy; “Do not say, ‘This is my error or my pain.’ Say ‘This is an attack against my Christ.’” It brings the peace and love of God back into my experience because it was only a belief, not the truth.
Thank God and Mrs. Eddy
Thank you Gary. This post is putting into practice what we are learning at the Roundtables – take a statement, find out what it means and how we can put it into practice in our daily life and then use it. This “recipe” is very helpful.
Thank God for Mary Baker Eddy, Christian Science, for our practitioners and the teaching we are receiving in this church.
“…prepare thine heart, and stretch out thine hands toward him.”
This statement helped me many years ago. I had a large financial debt that I could not see my way out of. This statement made me see that I had to open my heart to God, trust Him, reach out to Him and not outline how this debt was going to be paid. The statement, “God has always taken care of me, and He always will” came to me. It was a release from my fear.
Every month, without fail, I was able to make this payment. On paper there was not enough money to make the payment, but opening my heart to God and stretching out my hand to Him, the payment was made until I was debt free.
God has a solution to every problem. If we have the problem, the answer is already there.
Thank God for Christian Science and the teaching we are receiving on how to apply it to our daily life.
“The second requirement, which is to put this teaching into practice every day.”
I was taught in this church that if you don’t put this understanding into practice it is like a car on blocks, the wheels spin but you don’t go anywhere. When you put the Truth into practice it is like the wheels on your car are on the road and you are moving. Let’s not spin our wheels. Let’s practice every day what we are learning in this church.
Thank God for Christian Science.
“Man governed by immortal Mind, Is always beautiful and grand. Each succeeding year unfolds wisdom, beauty, and holiness.” We need to be governed by immortal Mind or we fall into the human beliefs of age which are nothing but lies, a false belief. I know if I am seeing anything other than these good qualities I am in the human mind and have to get back to God.
Thank God for Mrs. Eddy’s revelation.
This was a good reminder to me to also acknowledge the beautiful things God created – the trees, flowers, stars, birds, a rainbow etc. and thank Him for them. “God saw every thing he had made, and, behold, it was very good.” Genesis 1:31
This statement helped me in handling world events. “God could never impart an element of evil.” Did God make war, hatred, accidents etc.? Of course not! Then we can replace these pictures and annihilate the belief that they are true.
In Science and Health Mrs. Eddy states, “Which ought to be substance to us, – the erring, changing, and dying, the mutable and mortal, or the unerring, immutable, and immortal?” If God didn’t give it, (impart it) and it is changeable, (mutable) I don’t want it!
The teachings in this church show us how to destroy these false pictures. Thank God for Christian Science and Plainfield church.
I used to think before learning Christian Science that I had to give something that cost a lot of money to be a cheerful giver. I needed to feel that I had sacrificed something that I had worked hard for. That was the human sense of giving.
Now I know even a smile or a kind word is being a cheerful giver if it is done with a pure motive and the love of God behind it. It is not the outward appearance, but what is in the heart.
I was thinking about this statement also. I thought if someone hiding from the law came to my house would I take them in, give them shelter, feed them and protect them? Of course not! I would turn them over to the law. That’s what we need to do to the belief of sin, sickness and death – turn them over to God’s law and annul them. There’s no security for evil in our thinking!
There is a saying,” If you don’t use it, you lose it.” This saying brings to today this Bible story. God has given us many talents, and we must use them. The more we use them the more is given us. In this church there are many ways to use our talents and the more we are using them, the more God gives us to do. What a wonderful way of life!
The Bible has pointed out the way for all mankind, in all times. In this church we are learning to use these lessons now. Thank you God.
Children are free to do new things . They don’t have any pre-conceived ideas. They don’t get in a rut. They leave the old for the new. What an example!
I liked what Carol said: God does answer every prayer, but sometimes it’s not the answer we expect or we want to hear—but it will be the answer that we NEED.
I often wouldn’t get the answer to my prayer that I wanted, but it always was proved to me that God had a better plan. My desires were limited or not the right thing for me. God’s plan is always the answer we need. It always blesses us where human desire sometimes takes us away from God.
I am grateful to have learned here to say, “Not my will, but thine will be done.”
